Who we are a good fit for

Tentie Psychiatry is an adult outpatient practice offering comprehensive evaluation and medication management, in person in Houston and by telehealth statewide. We are often a useful referral when:

• A patient needs a longer, more thorough diagnostic assessment than a standard slot allows.
• A therapist’s client needs medication management alongside ongoing therapy.
• A diagnosis is unclear, or previous treatment has not produced the expected response.
• Psychiatric symptoms may be secondary to a medical condition or to prescribed medication.
• A patient would be better served by a Spanish-speaking psychiatrist.
• Wait times elsewhere are delaying care and the situation is deteriorating.

What falls outside our scope

Referring accurately saves your patient a wasted appointment. This practice does not provide:

• Care for patients under 18.
• Forensic services of any kind — custody evaluations, competency, fitness for duty, disability determinations or expert testimony.
• Primary treatment of eating disorders.
• Primary treatment of substance use disorders, including medication-assisted treatment.
• Chronic pain management.
• Emergency, crisis or after-hours coverage.

What you will receive back

With the patient’s written consent, the referring provider receives a summary of the diagnostic impression and the treatment plan after the initial evaluation, and is kept informed of significant medication changes. Dr. Torrijos is available for direct clinician-to-clinician discussion where a case warrants it.

Coordination of care is treated as part of the work, not as an afterthought — it is one of the reasons the practice is structured the way it is.

How to refer

Send the referral to [EMAIL] or call [PHONE]. Please include the reason for referral, current medications, and any recent laboratory work. Your patient can also request an appointment directly through the appointment form.

Please let your patient know in advance that this is a private-pay practice and that fees are published on the website. That single sentence prevents most cancelled first appointments.
