Characteristics that shape every appointment here
Up to 90 minutes
Your first appointment is long enough to listen to your story — not just the reason you called.
In person or via telehealth
Meet at the Houston office, or by secure telehealth from anywhere in Texas. Same physician, same length of appointment, your choice each time.
Care in your own language
Dr. Torrijos is fluent in English and Spanish.. Nothing gets lost in translation, and no interpreter sits between you and your doctor.
What makes Tentie different
In most insured settings a psychiatric follow-up lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. That is enough time to adjust a dose of medications. It is not enough time to understand why the treatment stopped working, what changed in your life three months ago, or whether the problem was ever psychiatric to begin with.
Tentie Psychiatry was founded in early 2026 around a different premise. The name comes from an Scots word — tentie — meaning attentive, careful, watchful. It is an uncommon word, and it was chosen deliberately, because it describes a way of practicing medicine that unfortunately has become uncommon too.
You are seen as a person with a history, not a diagnosis with a medication list.
In practice that means appointments are unhurried, your medical history is reviewed alongside your mental health, treatment options are explained, and no one pressures you into taking a decision in the room. If you need time to think, you take it.
