Integrative psychiatry in Houston & across Texas

What is integrative psychiatry?

Our brains and bodies are interconnected in a very complex way. This approach is geared to integrate the entire person as a whole; where body and mind blend together to make up our complex self. It encompasses conventional psychiatric treatment together with evidence-based complementary interventions such as lifestyle changes, spirituality, body and metabolic functioning, diet and supplements, and the mind with its past and present psychological experiences.

At Tentie Psychiatry we will understand you as a person with unique characteristics, lifestyle, preferences, spirituality and ways of thinking that determine who you are as a person.

Frequently asked

Does integrative psychiatry replace conventional psychiatric treatment?

No, this practice does not replace conventional psychiatric treatment. Many psychiatric problems require stabilization of symptoms prior to the addition of integrative treatment measures.

I am not interested in conventional psychiatric treatment. Can I try integrative psychiatry first?

This is evaluated carefully, and will depend on your particular condition. We will carefully assess your psychiatric symptoms, understand what are the acute issues at hand so we can have a better understanding if this approach will be helpful to you from the start of treatment. This approach is an enhancer of conventional treatment in most cases, a replacement of conventional treatment on exceptions.
