Questions & answers

The questions people actually ask, answered without hedging.

Getting started

How do I become a patient?

Submit the appointment request form or call [PHONE]. You will get a short call back to confirm the time, format and fee, then the paperwork, then your appointment.

How soon can I be seen?

Typically within [X DAYS]. Scheduling is generally faster than in insured settings because there is no authorisation process to wait on.

Do you treat children or adolescents?

No. This practice serves adults 18 and older. We are glad to point you toward a child and adolescent psychiatrist.

What conditions do you not treat?

Primary treatment of eating disorders, substance use disorders and chronic pain fall outside this practice, as do all forensic services. See the conditions page for the full scope.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can request an appointment directly. If your therapist or physician has referred you, bringing their information helps with coordination.

Fees and insurance

Do you take insurance?

No. Tentie Psychiatry is private pay. A superbill is provided on request for out-of-network reimbursement. The full explanation is on the fees page.

What does it cost?

[$XXX] for an initial evaluation of up to 90 minutes; follow-ups vary by length. Every fee is published.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed appointments, are charged the full appointment fee. These charges are not reimbursable by insurance.

Appointments and treatment

Can I be seen entirely by telehealth?

In most cases yes, anywhere in Texas. Some situations require at least one in-person appointment, particularly where controlled substances are involved.

How do refills work?

Requests are submitted through the practice with two full business days’ notice and sent electronically to your pharmacy. Controlled substance refills are issued only in connection with a scheduled appointment during office hours.

What if I have an emergency?

This practice does not provide emergency or after-hours care. Call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call or text 988. See crisis resources.

Can I email or text about clinical matters?

Please limit email and text to scheduling. They are not secure channels, and anything clinical you send becomes part of your medical record.

Will you complete forms for work or school?

Routine brief forms are completed at no charge. Extended or complex forms, letters and full reports are billed as published. This practice does not perform disability or fitness-for-duty evaluations.

Privacy and language

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with the narrow exceptions required by law: suspected abuse or neglect of a child, an elderly person or a person with a disability; imminent danger to yourself or an identifiable other; and a valid court order. The full detail is in the Notice of Privacy Practices.

Will my family be told anything?

Not without your written consent, except in an emergency where you cannot state a preference and sharing is necessary to keep you safe.

Does treatment here appear in insurance records?

Not unless you submit a superbill to your carrier yourself. This practice files no claims.
