Who you would be seeing
Dr. José M. Torrijos is a board-certified adult psychiatrist licensed in Texas. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, serving as Chief Resident, and has practised emergency and outpatient psychiatry in New York and Houston since 2012. He is a native Spanish speaker.
What it costs
An initial evaluation of up to 90 minutes is [$XXX]. Every fee is published — you will never have to call to find out what something costs. This is a private-pay practice: we do not file insurance claims, and we provide a superbill on request so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement.

Is telepsychiatry as effective as being in the room?
For psychiatric evaluation and medication management, research consistently finds outcomes comparable to in-person care. Appointment length and quality matter more than the medium.
Can everything be done by video?
In most cases, yes. Some situations require at least one in-person appointment, particularly where controlled substances are involved. You will be told clearly if that applies to you.
Do you take insurance?
No. Private pay, with a superbill provided on request for out-of-network reimbursement.
What do I need?
To be physically in Texas at the time of the appointment, a private space, and a device with a camera.
