An adult ADHD evaluation that actually takes the time it needs
A four-question checklist is not a diagnosis. Dr. Torrijos takes a full developmental and current history over up to 90 minutes, and rules out what else produces the same picture.
- Up to 90 minutes, covering childhood history and current functioning — not a screening quiz.
- Sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, thyroid and iron deficiency assessed before a diagnosis is made.
- Both stimulant and non-stimulant options discussed, with the reasoning explained.

Who you would be seeing
Dr. José M. Torrijos is a board-certified adult psychiatrist licensed in Texas. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, serving as Chief Resident, and has practised emergency and outpatient psychiatry in New York and Houston since 2012. He is a native Spanish speaker.
What it costs
An initial evaluation of up to 90 minutes is [$XXX]. Every fee is published — you will never have to call to find out what something costs. This is a private-pay practice: we do not file insurance claims, and we provide a superbill on request so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement.
Questions people ask first
Can you diagnose ADHD by video?
The evaluation can be completed by video. Prescribing stimulant medication by telehealth is subject to state and federal rules that may require at least one in-person appointment. You will be told exactly what applies to you.
Will I definitely get a stimulant?
No. Stimulants are one option among several and are not right for everyone. Some patients do better on a non-stimulant, and some turn out to have a different condition entirely.
Do I need testing or a brain scan?
No. ADHD is a clinical diagnosis based on history and current functioning. Brain scans are not a diagnostic tool for it.
Do you take insurance?
No. Private pay, [$XXX] for an initial evaluation of up to 90 minutes, with a superbill provided on request.
